“ Owing is equal to Giving. ”
Tired of feeling disconnected? Tired of just talking about problems? Want to work as part of a group and really connect with a diverse group of people?
Join the Kula Project!
Berlin is a city that is very international. It has been recently said that in Berlin, “multiculturalism has failed.” How can people in Berlin interact outside of these fragmented communities? How can we break the boundaries of artist/non-artist, foreigner/German, outsider and insider, poor/rich? We want to include in this process amoung other people, someone who grew up in East Germany to a third generation Turkish-German, to the international resident who makes Berlin their temporary home.
What is Kula Project?
The project “Kula” is an artistic and social experiment. We are an open group for individuals (artists, doctors, students, teachers, etc.) wanting to share, and collaborate participate in the process of this project. We will meet to together to discuss and shape this project with the aims of bringing discussion to an active result using found materials in everyday life.
The name of Kula comes from a ceremonial exchange system handed down in the islanders of Papua New Guinea. IThe value of these objects comes from their exchange rather than the objects themselves.
KIR (Kula Instrument Room) which is an office/instrument/ unconventional space where we have will have our first discussions for how the aims of Kula can be achieved in Berlin.
